Classmates.com’s Facebook Mimicking Prompts Privacy Suit

Threat Level:  “The site set up to locate long lost pals, Classmates.com, has been hit with a class action privacy lawsuit.  It alleges the company violated the law when it decided to make user profiles public to compete with Facebook.  The suit says Classmates.com duped its paying customers in late January when it sent them an e-mail telling members they’d have to opt out of new Facebook and iPhone apps to keep their data private.”

Pledge of Allegiance in Schools Ruled Constitutional on Appeal

Bloomberg:  “Reciting the Pledge of Allegiance with its reference to God in public schools doesn’t violate the U.S. Constitution’s separation of church and state, a federal appeals court ruled. The U.S. Court of Appeals in San Francisco disagreed with Michael Newdow, an atheist who sued a school district near Sacramento, California, challenging the use of the phrase “under God” in the pledge.”
