Arizona Attorneys Finding Vexing Issues in Bankruptcy Cases

Arizona Republic:  “Bankruptcy doesn’t always work as advertised. For starters, not all debts – including student loans, some tax liabilities and child-support obligations – can easily be shed, if at all.  Also, not all applicants can qualify for the type of filing they want, such as debtor-friendly Chapter 7 plans that are restricted to people with relatively modest incomes.  Besides, there are many nuances in the law that can thwart debtors and creditors – intricacies of which even some attorneys might not be aware.”

Pinal County Sheriff: Mexican Drug Cartels now Control Parts of Arizona

Free Republic:  “Pinal County investigators say an area known as the smuggling corridor now stretches from Mexico’s border to metro Phoenix.  The area once an area for family hiking and off road vehicles has government signs warning residents of the drug and human smugglers. . . . [Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu] said he no longer has control over parts of his county. ‘We are outgunned, we are out manned and we don’t have the resources here locally to fight this,’ he said . . . .”
