Company Audits Up, Illegal Worker Arrests Way Down Since 2008

Fox News:  “Under Obama, employer audits are up 50 percent . . . . But under President Obama, the numbers of arrests and deportations of illegals taken into custody at work sites plummeted by more than 80 percent from the last year of the Bush administration. In the current fiscal year 2010, which ends Sept. 30, ICE has arrested 900 workers. . . . That compares to immigration agents under Bush . . . deporting more than 6,000 illegal immigrants in raids in 2008.”

Maricopa County Supervisor Claims Thomas Attempted Extortion

KPHO 5 TV:  “Maricopa County Supervisor Andrew Kunasek claims he was the victim of an extortion attempt at the hands of former county attorney Andrew Thomas and his deputy prosecutor”  See the letter from Andy Kunasek in which he alleges wrong-doing by the form Maricopa County Attorney and one of his deputy county attorneys.

Maricopa County Feud: What Happens Next?

Arizona Republic reviews the budget-busting feuding between former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas and Sheriff Joe Arpaio on one side and Maricopa County judges, supervisors and other officials on the other side.  To date, notices of claims for damages exceeding $56 million have been filed with Maricopa County by people who claim that action taken by county officials has caused them to be harmed.  As of June 15, 2010, Maricopa County has wasted over $3.2 million for legal feed, audits and searching county offices for bugs (listening devices).
