Shareholders Sue Scottsdale-Based Matrixx Initiatives for Fraud

Arizona Republic:  “A shareholder lawsuit alleges a Scottsdale company concealed adverse reports about the safety of Zicam intranasal products and its executives profited by selling shares before federal safety regulators forced a recall of the over-the-counter product.  The lawsuit, filed this week at U.S. District Court in Phoenix, claims that Matrixx Initiatives and its top executives knew about Zicam safety complaints as early as 1999 but employed ‘knowing deception’ and ‘knowing non-disclosure of material facts’ related to complaints about Zicam’s safety.”

Maricopa County, Arizona, Sheriff Joe Arpaio likes to play holiday music in his jails during the Christmas season.  The 8,000+ inmates hear the music constantly during the day.  Recently a court dismissed the sixth lawsuit filed by inmates seeking to stop the music.

Thomas, Arpaio have Raised Stakes for Maricopa County

Arizona Republic:  “What’s happening in Maricopa County government isn’t a circus.  And it’s not a joke.  Not anymore.  It’s now a deadly serious business.  County Attorney Andrew Thoma and Sheriff Joe Arpaio are alleging that there is a massive corrupt conspiracy involving at least four Superior Court judges, the entire Board of Supervisors and senior county management.”

Sheriff Arpaio Accused of More Abuses

Courthouse News:  “Sheriff Joe Arpaio has been sued again, by people who say they were arrested for applauding critics of Arpaio at a county Board of Supervisors meeting, or for “trespassing” in a public building where they had gone to make an appointment with a county supervisor.  Two women say sheriff’s officers arrested them for “disorderly conduct” after they applauded criticism of Arpaio’s immigration policies at a Board of Supervisors meeting.”
