Apparently the rules of discovery do not apply to the Maricopa County Superior Court. What is the court trying to hide? Arizona Republic: “The Arizona Supreme Court on Thursday refused to consider an appeal from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to force the Superior Court to turn over e-mails between judges and other court officials. The argument has been ongoing since December 2007, when sheriff’s investigators tried to obtain internal court communications related to a pair of rulings made by then-presiding criminal Judge Anna Baca.”
“I’m disappointed just on the basic principle of the most open government possible, and that would apply to the judiciary,” said sheriff’s Deputy Chief Jack MacIntyre. “It just looks as if something is being protected that wouldn’t be protected by any other branch of government.”
