Arizona Republic: “In a ruling issued Wednesday morning, former Arizona Chief Justice Ruth McGregor denied Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas’ request to appoint a pair of celebrity Washington, D.C., attorneys as special prosecutors in the criminal cases against County Supervisors Don Stapley and Mary Rose Wilcox. McGregor, the “special master” chosen by the current Supreme Court chief justice to coordinate the myriad criminal and civil cases roiling Maricopa County government, wrote in her ruling that she did not have jurisdiction to make such an appointment.”
